This Brown Bess musket is a "third model" otherwise known as an "India Pattern" musket made after the East India Company introduced improvements and they were later adopted for arms manufactured for the British military.

The India Pattern form saw service from 1797 through 1854 and served as a standardized musket during that span. Barrel length was 39" with an overall length of 55.25" and a weight of 9.68lbs.. Cavalry Pattern (Brown Bess Carbine) - Shortened barrel issued to cavalry troops; service from 1796 to 1838; 26-inch barrel length; 42.5-inch overall.
